A friend first introduced me to Sound Mind Investing (SMI) back in the late 1990’s. Before this time, I had grown up with a father who was a wise investor. I learned quite a bit from him but Sound Mind Investing gave me an easy way to learn more at my own pace. SMI also provided me a strategy for investing on my own that may be out there somewhere but I have never seen it. The company also lined up with my biblical values of handling money God’s way, not as an owner (that’s God’s role) but as a steward of His.
How does SMI work?
Through their monthly printed newsletter and/or their subscription based website, they employ several strategies for investors to invest on their own. These strategies are easy to understand and can fit almost anyone’s level of self-investing interest.
Where do I begin?
I suggest you start by going to the website and looking around – www.soundmindinvesting.com. Read some of the open articles that do not require a membership. Then consider purchasing a basic membership to get started. There certainly are advantages to hiring a financial advisor; however, if you desire to try investing on your own, the annual or monthly charge is well worth it.
As a steward of God, you and I have an opportunity to manage the investments He has entrusted to us faithfully to provide for ourselves and our family but also to advance God’s Kingdom around the world. Sound Mind Investing can help you do just that!
