Taking away the stress of finances and having things orderly makes it easier to hear God’s voice.

My relationship with money has completely changed.

In preparing for marriage, there was a lot of uncertainty about how to manage my own finances.

I had lots of debt and I was living paycheck to paycheck. I thought I had a working budget. Nope!

We were constantly overspending and increasing our credit card debt. It was discouraging and felt like we were stuck in a hole.

I was just spending what I felt like on my credit card and hoped for the best at the end of the month.

When I first met Carey and Andrea Northington with One Master Ministries in I was a total mess.

Money has always stressed me out. I was always told to save and not spend, and I did it out of both fear and pride.

There is freedom and joy in spending what has been planned for and a structure from which to plan for lean months. 

I approached Carey with an idea that I never would have expected panning out the way that it did.

It’s an uphill battle to have a right and biblical perspective of money.

I remember thinking, “This is it. If I died right here and now, it wouldn’t even matter.”

We knew we were doing it wrong, but felt like we didn’t know where to start.

There was an underlying trust issue of me coming from a family history of borrowing and spending.

I have much more peace now when I need to spend money, because I’m not wondering if I have the money available.

The despair from debt has been replaced by the joy of God’s provision.

Had I not been working with him, my 8-week furlough would have been a devastating financial burden.

Before meeting we did not have a budget, which resulted in sporadic spending and a lot of anxiety about money.

We knew we were doing things counterproductive to our desire, like using credit cards, but we didn’t see any other way.

It was extremely frightening, and I lost a rather large sum of money.

I was panicking a lot and not sleeping. I was a mess and needed help.

He is teaching us to be content in all circumstances through the years as we have been in places of “plenty” and “want”.

My world had been turned upside down, I was going through a gamut of emotions and my finances were a big part of that.

I was a single mom of four who had just lost my job and was overwhelmed financially.

As we are planning to get married next year, we both knew that we wanted to achieve healthy financial habits before joining our finances together.

The very idea of money management became a source of discouragement and a topic to be avoided. 

Before YNAB, we struggled a ton to be on the same page with finances. Both our backgrounds and the ways we grew up were very different.

We went through a major financial crisis and had to make some serious changes to our financial management.

Besides coming to a saving knowledge of faith in Christ, I have discovered that one of the most important things in life is to have and live on a budget.

Having our budget through YNAB has helped us spiritually because it helps us see that we are truly blessed with our finances and can bless others.

God has taught me to trust in Him, to willingly trust the people He has brought into my life to help, and to fully realize that financial stewardship is a sacred responsibility.

When I entered my senior year of college, I realized that I needed to learn how to manage money before graduating.

Before meeting with Carey and Andrea, we were paying our bills on time, but we weren’t prepared for emergencies or future expenses…

We don’t fight about money (anymore)! We also are no longer going in the negative and needing to dip into savings to make ends meet.
