Two and a half years ago, I was hopeless—at a true spiritual rock bottom— addicted to drugs, living on the streets for seven years, sleeping outside, in the woods, behind grocery stores, under bridges, with literally nobody to support me or help me do the right thing. I remember thinking, “This is it. If I died right here and now, it wouldn’t even matter.”
And then that same night, there was a divine intervention: I was arrested by the police. I remember being so thankful that things happened the way they did because I couldn’t harm myself anymore. I truly surrendered. I went to rehab and did whatever it took to stay clean and sober.
Before I started working with Carey and Andrea, I lived less than paycheck to paycheck and had all my credit cards maxed out. It made life feel unmanageable.
Since I’ve stayed consistent with my budgeting and weekly/biweekly meetings with Carey & Andrea, I’ve been able to pay off all my credit cards and manage my money. I don’t really worry about whether I’m going to get by anymore, and it has made my life much more manageable overall.
This past year has made me feel so grateful for everything that has flourished in my life. I have God to thank for that, because if it wasn’t for Him, none of this would have been possible.
Today, I have all the support I could have ever imagined and people who are really rooting for me to keep going. I am over the moon with gratitude that things turned out the way they did. I have zero complaints in my life, and I’m just glad to be here and to have God in my life. My hope and goal for the future is to help people who were in the position I was in and show them that it is possible with God’s help.
