Our family has been members of Samaritan Ministries since 2010. Samaritan is “a Biblical, non-insurance approach to health care needs.”
How does it work? Every month we receive the name and medical condition of someone who has submitted receipts to Samaritan for health needs they have recently had. We pray for the person with the need and send a note with a check (which is about the same amount every month). When we have a medical need, we submit our receipts to Samaritan and they send a list of people and the amounts they will send us. The encouraging notes and checks begin to come in made payable to us, we cash them and then reimburse ourselves for the expenses we incurred.
We have never had an expense we submitted not paid. It is a wonderful example of the body of Christ at work sharing in the needs of people. It is a joy to share with others also knowing that God will one day provide for us, too.
